Charity

1. “My dear brethren, divine blessings for priesthood service are activated by our diligent efforts, our willingness to sacrifice, and our desire to do what is right. Let us be the ones to act and not be acted upon. Preaching is fine, but sermons that do not lead to action are life fires without heat or water that cannot quench thirst.   (Dieter F. Uchtdorf, “The Why of Priesthood Service” May 2012 Ensign)

2. "[The Relief Society] is composed of women whose feelings of charity spring from hearts changed by qualifying for and by keeping covenants offered only in the Lord's true Church. Their feeling of charity comes from Him through His Atonement. Their acts of charity are guided by His example--and come out of gratitude for His infinite gifts of mercy--and by the Holy Spirit, which He sends to accompany His servants on their missions of mercy. Because of that, they have done and are able to do uncommon things for others and to find joy even when their own unmet needs are great." (Henry B. Eyring, "The Enduring Legacy of Relief Society" November 2009 Ensign)

3. “When we seek to serve others, we are motivated not by selfishness but by charity. This is the way Jesus Christ lived His life and the way a holder of the priesthood must live his. The Savior did not care for the honors of men; Satan offered Him all the kingdoms of glory of the world, and Jesus rejected the offer immediately and completely. Throughout His life, the Savior must have often felt tired and pressed upon, with scarcely a moment to Himself; yet He always made time for the sick, the sorrowful, and the overlooked." (Dieter F. Uchtdorf, November 2008 Ensign)

4. “Now, my brethren and sisters, the time has come for us to stand a little taller, to lift our eyes and stretch our minds to a greater comprehension and understanding of the grand millennial mission of this The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This is a season to be strong. It is a time to move forward without hesitation, knowing well the meaning, the breadth, and the importance of our mission. It is a time to do what is right regardless of the consequences that might follow. It is a time to be found keeping the commandments. It is a season to reach out with kindness and love to those in distress and to those who are wandering in darkness and pain. It is a time to be considerate and good, decent and courteous toward one another in all of our relationships. In other words, to become more Christlike." (Gordon B. Hinckley, “This Is the Work of the Master” May 1995 Ensign)
5. "We must live as true followers of the Christ, with charity toward all, returning good for evil, teaching by example the ways of the Lord, and accomplishing the vast service He has outlined for us." (Gordon B. Hinckley “The Dawning of a Brighter Day” May 2004 Ensign)

6. "In this long eternal quest to be more like our Savior, may we try to be "perfect" men and women in at least  this one way now- by offending not in word, or more positively put, b speaking with a new tongue, the tongue of angels. Our words, like our deeds, should be filled with faith and hope and charity, the three great Christian imperatives so desperately needed in the world today." (Jeffery R. Holland, May 2007 Ensign)

7. "The great legacy those who went before you in the Relief Society [has been] passed on to you. The part of the foundation they laid for you which seems to me most important and persistent is that charity is at the heart of the society and is to come into the heart, to be a part of the very nature, of every member. Charity meant to them far more than a feeling of benevolence. Charity is born of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and is an effect of Hist Atonement working in the hears of members." (Henry B. Eyring, November 2009 Ensign)

8. "Heavenly Father is ever mindful of those who need, who seek, who trust, who pray, and who listen when He speaks. 'For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life'. God's gift becomes our blessing. May every heart open wide and welcome Him--Christmas day and always." (Thomas S. Monson, December 1995 Ensign)

9. "In contrast to the institutions of the world, which teach us to KNOW something, the gospel of Jesus Christ challenges us to BECOME something...The gospel of Jesus Christ is the plan by which we can become what children of god are supposed to become...Charity is something one becomes." (Dallin H. Oaks, November 2000 Ensign)

10. "Charity is the ability to make life more meaningful for others." (Robert D. Hales, February 2002 Ensign)
